Blog 4 - Book Club Book Choice

Me and my book club chose the book Ready Player One, and I was the one to decide the book for the group. We chose the book because it was a fairly modern book that showed what the future of mankind would be like. And also that we enjoyed the movie and wanted to see what the book was like. I think a factor that played a role in us choosing the book was because of the movie, it was one of those situations where we wondered what the book was like compared to the movie and many said that the Ready Player One book is much better than the movie. I thought the book was very good, but it provided a lot of cliches that seemed to make the book too predictable. I'm not saying that made it bad, it just seemed like the book was more or less predictable by the middle of the story.

My group members thought the same as well, the book in itself is one big cliche, but we enjoyed it overall and it was a very good read. I believed this book had a pretty strong message on humanity and how we all rely on technology too much nowadays. The main character Wade Watts is one of those characters who have a sense of what is wrong with society and all that. The whole book is very concentrated on how society works as a whole and why we are so reliant on technology.

Overall, I enjoyed reading this book. There are lots of action scenes and many pop culture references detailed throughout the words. Although the book does get bland after a while because of the same story and cliche, it was still interesting to read.
