Blog 3 - Choice Book review
The book that I read for my free pick was called Neptune's Inferno. I found the book looking for books on the topic of World War 2. From the title, I was interested in reading it since I had a very high interest in reading historical non-fiction or even fiction, but I mostly read non-fiction books.
For me, the book was an intense ride on one of the important naval battles of World War 2. It was one of the deciding factors in the Pacific theater apart from Midway that helped the United States gain an offensive advantage on Japan. I think the book was very well done, written by James D. Hornfischer, he provides excellent detailing of the book, there's lots of parts in the book that show the heavy toll of death during the war which is important to show what war was like at the time. For example during the battle of Guadalcanal, it is shown that a lot of men had lost their lives after being sunk by an enemy torpedo, the U.S had lost over hundreds of men during the battle. The book is not a very light book to read, but it was a very well written historical book.
