Blog 6 - Genre Reflection

An overview of my genre-
The genre that I chose was nonfiction. My comfort is more towards nonfiction books so that's why I chose it. There are several sub-genres to nonfiction, and each one has it's own appeal to many different people. Nonfiction in general is a genre using facts, people, real events put into books to give information to the general public and anyone who reads them.

The appeals of my genre-
There are many appeals to nonfiction, many various people read the many different sub genres. Each one of those appeals to people in their own way, but nonfiction as a whole gives people the appeal of learning new things, it helps people with concentration, and etc. You can become a better reader by reading nonfiction as well, you learn new words every once in a while as you read.

What I personally like about my genre-
I enjoy reading nonfiction as a way to relax. There are several books that I enjoy reading again from time to time to give myself a refresher on facts and such. Books such as biographies and informational books are more of my type of sub genres of nonfiction, but I like to read some of the other sub genres on occasion.

Review of my book and how is it an example of my genre-
The book that I read for this unit was The Art of War. It's a psychological book about how to defeat your enemy created by a chinese military strategist named Sun Tzu in the year 500 B.C. It's an amazing book to read, good for business people and athletes alike. Or anyone who just wants to read a book. It technically is part of the nonfiction genre since it tells facts and ideas based on the psychological mind of a person.

3 recommendations for readers and authors of the genre-
1. Always read through the book, there are many interesting and crucial facts you can learn from them.
2. Listen to what authors have to say, usually nonfiction books provide facts that can be used later on
3. If you're reading a biography put yourself in the author's shoes and see what it was like for their life.
